For the new United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team Facility, Epsten Group guided the design/build team through a clearly delineated process of optimizing building performance. The design showed a SPiRiT Gold achievement, exceeding the SPiRiT Silver goal. The project implemented many sustainable design features, including significant energy and water savings. Stormwater is carefully managed to protect the existing wetland, light-colored surfaces reduce site heat islands, and building materials are specified for their high-recycled content. Low-emitting materials throughout the interior contribute to excellent indoor air quality.
